Schecter Omen 5 String Bass
Schecter Omen 5 Review - 05/03/14 The Schecter Omen 5 is a 5 string low priced electric bass guitar. Although it’s on the low end on the spectrum it is a descent bass with “ok” intonation and lot’s of features for the price point. It features active pick ups and EQ.  The active system requires one 9 volt battery. The battery compartment has a clip latch door for easy and quick replacement which is needed if the battery dies during a performance. Unlike some other active pickups that go into a passive mode when the battery dies, this one shuts off all sound. The sound quality is passable although, the B string is muddy. The sound can be shaped to something passable with the proper  adjustments on your amp and on the guitar.  While the overall intonation is only “ok” the sound quality is inconsistent on some strings on upper range frets.  This seems to be common with basses at this price point. Overall the bass is solid and a good performer for the money. It’s a good live performance knock around bass.
