Gallien-Krueger (GK) MB110 and 112MBP
GK MB110 and 112MBP Review - 06/10/16  I looked at a lot of small combo amps before settling on this one. GK has a great reputation for great sound and durability. This 100 watt amp with one 10”  speaker, uses class D amplification and as such is very light, weighing in at only 21 pounds. This unit is great for practice and small gigs. The great thing about  these amps is the chain out. Utilizing the chain out you can connect a power only speaker (112MBP, 115MBP or 212MBP) to the unit where the MB 110 is the  master. This works great if you have a larger gig, making the combination very versatile. I don’t play really large venue’s so I chose to purchase the 112MBP to  go with my MB110. The 112MBP is a 200 watt powered amp with one 12” speaker. In addition to the ability to chain out, there is an XLR direct out to go to the snake or mixer depending on your setup.   I play a 5 string bass and the low B is clean when played through this amp. Of course the type of bass I play and it’s pick ups play a role in that clean sound as  well. The MB110 has a -10db attenuator button, A contour button, and a 4 band active equalizer. There is also a 3.5mm aux in jack and a 1/4” headphone jack  so you can practice without annoying one else and also practice along with your favorite music. All in all the GK line of amps are worth a listen but in my  opinion they pack a lot of quality and reliabilty at a great price point.
